SRA News and Notes

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday will mark the 63rd day of prayer for our church in our 100 days of prayer. Please take the time each day to pray for our life together, for the financial needs and health of the parish, and for the Lord to draw people to himself through us.

This morning we celebrate the 9th Sunday after Pentecost. Our scripture lessons include: Hosea 1:2-10, Psalm 85, Colossians 2:6-19, and Luke 11:1-13. We are seven weeks into our summer sermon series: "Thunderous Thoughts about God, Us, and Life." Thunderous thoughts to date include:
*The God who created every living, breathing thing cares about YOU!
*You can never be good enough for God – and you don't have to be.
*We will do greater things than Jesus did – he said so himself.
   *God wants ALL of you.
*Though we don't understand how, prayer works!

*Jesus is the object of our worship.

Our thunderous thought for Sunday is the most remarkable statement imaginable… The one who is absolutely sinless, completely holy and without blemish – LIVES IN YOU! Such a thought is absolutely incomprehensible in any other system of religious belief. It is an utterly absurd claim, and yet it is completely true. Jesus lives in you – not just in some metaphorical way, but in actuality. What difference does it make… all the difference in the world.

I'm blessed beyond measure to be here with you all. Thanks for coming Sunday by Sunday to worship the God who created you and who loves you.

Faithfully,

Becki+
