SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Parish Family,

Thank you for your expressions of sympathy and prayers as we grieve the passing of our beloved furry family member, Zippy. I truly am blessed to be in the midst of such a loving and caring congregation!

SUNDAY WORSHIP
This coming Sunday we celebrate the fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost. Our Sermon series from Experiencing God  will continue with unit 6, "God Speaks, Part 2."  Our readings will include Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9, Psalm 15, James 1:17-27, and Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23. We will also be revealing who our children's secret prayer partners were for the 2012-2013 school year. Children and youth might want to bring a thank you card or small token of appreciation for the person who has been praying for them this school year.  We will also begin signups for prayer partners for the 2012-2013 school year. Any boy or girl who would like a blessing over their backpack is also invited to bring it to our worship. Since school has begun each person might want to put something from their hardest class in the backpack and bring it along. We will pray a blessing and for those most difficult subjects as a part of our worship.

ACOLYTES: CALLING ALL ACOLYTES: OLD AND NEW
Our acolyte guild is open to all who are in grades 3 and up. Meghan and I would like to meet with all acolytes at the new office space on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 12:30. We will meet for about an hour and 15 minutes for Pizza, training, and fellowship. One parent from each family is asked to attend for the first half an hour. Those interested in acolyting should speak with me on Sunday, or email me in response to this email.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH
Will meet on Tuesday at the 304. This will be the last meeting at the "old" 304. We begin at 7:15 and conclude by 8:30. Prayer is our most important work. Please join us in praying for our church and our community.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School will begin on Sunday, September 9th. The children's ministry team met and we are excited about what this new year had to offer! Our children are truly OUR children. I'm certain we will have no troubles filling out the teaching schedule! Thanks in advance for stepping up to help out.

"THE 304"
The 304, AKA the church office, is moving from the Devon apartments to a townhouse near Little River. The new office address is 43547 Kiplington Square, and is very near Little River.  Our move is scheduled for Saturday, September 8. To volunteer for move day talk with Don or Mike, or with me on Sunday. Packing day will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, beginning at 9:30. With a few willing packers, we should finish around noon. Please email if you can help out on the 5th to pack.

WOMEN's RETREAT
Our fall women's retreat is planned for the first weekend in October. Please save the date!

With a thankful heart,

SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Friends,

SUNDAY WORSHIP
This coming Sunday we celebrate the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost. Our SErmon series from Experiencing God  will continue, picking up at unit 5, "God SPeaks, Part 1."  Our readings will include 1 Kings 2:10-12, 3:3-14, Psalm 111, Ephesians 5:15-20, and John 6:51-58. I am looking forward to being back with you all after our trip to Ghana! On Sunday, August 26th we will share some of our mission experiences and photos.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH
Will meet on Tuesday at the 304. We begin at 7:15 and conclude by 8:30. Prayer is our most important work. Please join us in praying for our church and our community.

THE GHANA MISSION
Please read all about it at the GMH blog to be found at http://ghanaianmothershope.wordpress.com/

SUNDAY SCHOOL
For the month of August we will offer a video lesson for those in grades K-8.

"THE 304"
The 304, AKA the church office, is moving from the Devon apartments to a townhouse near Little River. The latest rent increase, due to take effect October first made it prudent to look at other options. God's hand was clearly on our gaining knowledge of the townhouse being available at a rent that is less than the current apartment rent. The additional advantage is that it has space for office and meetings on the ground floor level, meaning no steps, and easier access for those who need it. It also means that we will be needing to move the entire office and other furniture during September. Our hope is to move on Saturday, September 8. Please volunteer to help pack the week before, and to move that day!

With a thankful heart,

Becki+
