SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Friends in Christ,

We pray you will consider joining us this Sunday as we worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. SRCA is a small but growing congregation where we value being connected to each other and to Christ. Our worship begins at 10:00 in the gym at Little River. We are casual in our dress, but serious in our desire to encounter God in worship, and in making Him known in the world. We are "the little church that can," we can make difference here in SR, and in the world.

SUNDAY WORSHIP
This coming Sunday we celebrate the twenty-first Sunday after Pentecost. We will be hosting some folks form the Chrysalis community who will speak to us about the Chrysalis ministry to teens and young adults. Please give them a warm welcome. All high school students are urged to be in church to hear about this wonderful, fun opportunity to deepen your faith.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH
Will meet on Tuesday at the 304.2. We begin at 7:15 and conclude by 8:30. Prayer is our most important work. Please join us in praying for our church and our community.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
We will begin collecting for Operation Christmas Child on Sunday. We ask for a donation of $20.00 for each box. This covers shipping ($7.00) and give $13.00 to provide contents that will make a child's entire Christmas. Last year we donated 78 shoe boxes. Please help us continue to give in a way that reflects the great gift given to us in Jesus.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
We have the opportunity to paint a studio space used by a Cancer center near Loudon Hospital. Everyone in grades 6 and up is eligible to volunteer. I am looking to put together a team of 6-8 folks to paint on Saturday in early november. Please talk to me Sunday if you are interested.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
Please save the date of Sunday, November 11th. Our Annual Parish Meeting will be held immediately following church. Lunch will be served. Plan to attend and hear the wonderful things happening in SRCA. We will also be electing 3 vestry members. Pray as to whether God may be calling you to put your name forward. Serving on vestry is a wonderful opportunity and a blessing in our church!

ALPHA IS COMING
The Alpha Course will begin in January. It will be held on Monday evenings. This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the unchurch, de churched, or to people of other faith traditions who are open to exploring Christianity. Please be thinking now about whom you might invite to attend.

The Alpha Marriage Course is an opportunity to "tune up" a marriage. It will also begin in January, and be held on Friday evenings. Begin praying now as to whether this is a good opportunity for you and your spouse to set aside a little "marriage time." This course is also open to those in the community.

SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Friends in Christ

SUNDAY WORSHIP
This coming Sunday we celebrate the twentieth Sunday after Pentecost. We will be celebrating the Children's Sabbath, and it will be a W.A.T.S. (We Are The Sermon) Sunday as well. We will use the sermon time to work together to make Christmas CArds for Rwandan orphans. To go with the cards, we have wash cloths. If you have any new wash cloths you would like to donate, please bring them on Sunday. We also need to collect $75.00 to pay for the washcloths the church has purchased. A special offering will be taken up to help with this expense.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH
Will meet on Tuesday at the Englehardts in Stone Ridge. We begin at 7:15 and conclude by 8:30. Prayer is our most important work. Please join us in praying for our church and our community.

CAR WASH
On October 20 we will hold a second car wash to raise funds to assist Haika and Ephata with their expenses in becoming U.S. citizens. Please sign up to help! The last car wash was very successful, and everyone had a great time.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
We will begin collecting for Operation Christmas Child soon. Last year we donated 78 shoe boxes. Please help us continue to give in a way that reflects the great gift given to us in Jesus.

SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Parish Family,

SUNDAY WORSHIP
This coming Sunday we celebrate the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. We will be celebrating Morning Prayer this Sunday. Morning Prayer has ancient roots that extend beyond the earliest days of the Anglican Church. While it does not include Holy Communion, it is an opportunity to worship God as our ancestors did. Paul Branch will be the officiant, and Don Holt will bring the message.  Our readings will include Genesis 2:18-24Psalm 8Hebrews 1:1-4; 2:5-12, and Mark 10:2-16

WOMEN's RETREAT: Gospel Gourmet
Please keep our women in your prayers as they travel to and from the women's retreat today and Sunday.

MEN'S MEATING
Misspelling intentional! The men of the parish are invited out to the Neumann's home on Saturday, Oct. 6th, at 2:00 for "Meat, eat, and greet" time together. Please contact don Holt for information, or call Bruce at 240-217-0811. It's fine to bring children along, too.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH
Will meet on Tuesday at the 304.2. We begin at 7:15 and conclude by 8:30. Prayer is our most important work. Please join us in praying for our church and our community.

THE CHILDREN"S SABBATH
Next Sunday we will celebrate the Children's Sabbath. This will be a WATS Sunday - when We Are The Sermon. We will be making cards to be sent to Rwanda to orphaned children. We are also collecting funds (or wash cloths if you happen to have any new ones to give away) to supply 150 wash clothes for the children. We need to collect $75.00 to cover the cost. If we collect more, it will go toward the cost of shipping the cards and cloths to Rwanda.

CAR WASH
On October 20 we will hold a second car wash to raise funds to assist Haika and Ephata with their expenses in becoming U.S. citizens. Please sign up to help! The last car wash was very successful, and everyone had a great time.
