SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

WELCOME
to our newsletter. This Sunday we will celebrate the Second Sunday in Lent. Lent is the 40 day period of preparation leading to Easter. Christians are encouraged to devote themselves to the study of God's Word, to confession, to fasting and to prayer during Lent.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH
will be on break beginning this Tuesday and throughout Lent so that we can encourage participatiion in our Lenten Program. Please remember to pray for our parish!

OUR LENTEN PROGRAM continues on Wednesday, February 27th. We are doing a study based on the movie (book) "The Hiding Place." This incredible story takes place during WW2, and is a testimony to what it means to truly follow and trust in God. We begin at 6:30 with a simple supper of soup, salad, and bread, followed by the program at 7:15. We celebrate a very simple Eucharist together at 8:10, and end at 8:30. Its not too late to attend. You will be a blessing to the other participants, and you will be blessed as well.

LENTEN OFFERING CANS
are available. The giving of alms to help those in need is a long standing lenten tradition. Please see Becki+ to get your can, or a lenten activity calendar for your family if you missed those last Sunday. The  lenten offering cans will be collected on Easter. All offering from the cans will be used for our mission work in Ghana.

BIRTHDAY
Someone in our midst will be celebrating a special "0" birthday on Sunday, March 3rd. Pastor Becki and Meghan are planning a lunch for this person, and invite the parish to attend. The lunch will be at the Church Townhouse. Please RSVP by clicking this link. SRCanglican@gmail.com

FAMILY CAMP
Our 4th annual Family Camp will be held June 14 – 16, and the cost is a bit less than last year! Our theme will be "Roamin Roman Holiday." The activities will be a blend of new adventures and old favorites. Sign up this week! You won't want to miss the fun!!

PASTOR BECKI
will be away from Monday through Friday at the "Clergy Leadership Training Institute." This is the third year of a three year program fro clergy leaders.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
VBS has long been a dream of many at SRC. We are looking at the possibility of having a home based VBS program this summer. Please consider what time of summer would enable your children to come, and whether you would be willing to be a host home or volunteer leader. An information meeting will be scheduled in early February.

SOUTH RIDING CHURCH is a church in the Anglican tradition. We are a member of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic (DoMA), and the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).
