SRCA NEWS AND NOTES

WELCOME to our web page. We hope you will join us for worship on the First Sunday After the Epiphany. During the season after The Epiphany, we look toward the spread of the gospel throughout all the world. What began in a manger in Bethlehem was soon known in the East, from where the Wise Men journeyed. Word about Jesus soon spread, first in Jerusalem and the area there about, then to Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. During Epiphany we look toward our own role in spreading the light of Christ, which has come into the world.

PRAYERS FOR THE PARISH: We will meet at the church townhouse this Tuesday. We begin at 7:15 and end at 8:30. Prayer is our most important work. Please remember to pray for our parish and our community.

FAITH PROMISE CAMPAIGN: Our 2013 stewardship campaign is now in the wrap up phase. Pastor Becki+ has extras if you forgot to bring yours. If you are not able to turn yours in today, please do so asap.

ALPHA IS HERE: The Alpha Course began last Monday, January 7th.  It meets from 6:30 until 9:30. This is a wonderful opportunity to review the basics of the Christian faith, and to reach out to friends and neighbors who are open to exploring Christianity. It is not too late to sign up.

GREETER'S MEETING: Our greeters will meet today at the Branch home to brainstorm and to plan for the future. Please check with Maryann about the details.

WOMEN'S LUNCH: Ladies, please save the date of Sunday, February 3rd for a women's lunch gathering. The location is still TBD, so sign up early and let your wishes be known!

SAVE THE DATE: Our annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper will be held on Tuesday, February 12th. Come enjoy wonderful pakcakes and sausage and fellowship. Donations are requested, and will be used to pay our child sponsorship for Gladys, our Ghanaian child.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: VBS has long been a dream of many at SRC. We are looking at the possibility of having a home based VBS program this summer. Please consider what time of summer would enable your children to come, and whether you would be willing to be a host home. An information meeting will be scheduled in early February.

SOUTH RIDING CHURCH is a church in the Anglican tradition. We are a member of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic (DoMA), and the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

Faithfully,
