For Sunday, January 17: The Second Sunday After Epiphany

On January 17 we will celebrate the Second Sunday after the Epiphany. Readings for this Sunday include: Isaiah 62:1-5, Psalm 36:5-10, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, and John 2:1-11.

The season after Epiphany is symbolized by the color green – green for growth. It is a time when we grow in our understanding of Jesus as we hear of his miracles, " how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." (Acts 10:38) It's a time for us to work to sharpen the tools God gives us so that we can be about HIS work of reconciling the world to himself through Jesus.

God does not call us only to leave us powerless. God both calls and equips his people. We are given both tools and abilities so that we can live into the call to do the things Jesus did- and greater things, too. During the next several weeks we will examine the tools and abilities God wants to hone in us, tools that will enable us to be about God's work.

Make a commitment to come week by week to worship and grow with us! As we are reminded in this week's reading form 1 Corinthians – we have different gifts, and our church needs all of them if we are to grow and thrive. See you Sunday!

In Christ Alone,

Becki+
